TGA-50
THERMOGRAVIMETRIC ANALYZER
Metachem Resins Corporation (MERECO), a unit of Mereco Technologies
Group, Inc., is pleased to announce the purchase of a Shimadzu
TGA-50 Thermogravimetric Analyzer.
According to Philip M. Papoojian, Metachem’s President and COO, the
TGA-50 will be employed in Mereco’s research and testing to
determine characteristics of materials such as the company’s
epoxies, urethanes, silicones, UV curing resins and solar paste, to
determine degradation temperatures, absorbed moisture content of
materials, the level of inorganic and organic components in
materials, decomposition points and solvent residues. It will also
be used to estimate the corrosion kinetics in high temperature
oxidation.
The TGA-50 has a temperature range from ambient to 1,000oC, a weight
measuring range from +/- mg, +/-200mg, can make precise measurements
to 1 ug, has a wide selection of gas atmosphere from air, inert gas,
reactive gas including hydrogen to vacuum, and a wide selection of
sample crucibles.
Since 2002, Mereco has spent over $1,000,000 to build a fully
functional analytical capability for polymers. Purchase of the
TGA-50 enhances Mereco’s thermal and mechanical analysis capability
which also includes DSC, TMA, DMA, laserflash thermal conductivity
analysis, rheometry, FTIR, viscometry, and a universal tester.
